Minister of Health (Menkes) Terawan Agus Putranto approved the implementation of Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) in three regions of Banten Province namely Tangerang City, Tangerang District and South Tangerang City, to reduce the spread of the corona virus (Covid-19).
“It has been (approved by the PSBB),” said the government spokesman specifically handling corona virus (covid-19) Achmad Yurianto when contacted by CNNIndonesia.com, Sunday (12/4).
PSBB in the three regions of Banten Province will be carried out during the longest incubation period (14 days) and can be extended if there is still evidence of distribution.
Based on national data, Banten Province is the fourth region with the highest positive co-19 case, after DKI Jakarta, West Java, East Java.
Yurianto said that if the PSBB was carried out in the three regions of Banten Province, it would be easier to control the spread of co-19 in the Greater Jakarta area. It is known, DKI Jakarta Province has already implemented PSBB since April 10, and followed by Bogor, Depok and Bekasi, which will take effect on Wednesday (15/4).
“So that the Jabodetabek covid-19 cluster can be more integrated and facilitate us in controlling aspects of epidemiology,” he said in a press conference on Sunday.
President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) decided on the PSBB’s policy of suppressing the spread of the corona virus. He published Government Regulation Number Government Regulation Number 21 Year 2020 concerning PSBB in the Framework of Accelerating the Covid-19 Handling.
The application of the PSBB is submitted by regional heads, both governors, regents and mayors and must obtain approval from the minister of health. In addition, the application of PSBB can also come from the request of the task force team.
Terawan then issued a regulation on PSBB through Minister of Health Regulation No. 9 of 2020 concerning Guidelines for Large-Scale Social Restrictions in the Context of Handling Acceleration in Covid-19.
In the PSBB guideline, the government will limit school and workplace activities, religious activities, activities in public places or facilities. Then, social and cultural activities and modes of transportation.
