Ministry of Transportation spokeswoman Adita Irawati said that in certain cases motorcycle taxis were still allowed to carry passengers on conditions in accordance with health protocols to prevent Covid-19 transmission.

“For motorbikes to be able to transport passengers on condition that they must meet the health protocol,” Adita said in an official statement received by CNNIndonesia.com, Sunday (12/4).

The protocol rules referred to by Adita include disinfecting vehicles and attributes before and after use, using masks and gloves, and not driving when experiencing body temperature above normal or sick.

In addition to regulating the issue of two-wheeled vehicle licenses, the regulation also regulates two other things, namely related to transportation control for homecoming 2020 and transportation control throughout the region.

This regulation is intended for public and private vehicle passengers, operators of public facilities and infrastructure for land, sea, air and train transportation.

“The essence of this rule is to carry out transportation control in order to prevent the spread of Covid-19, while still meeting the needs of the community for transportation facilities, especially for those who cannot do work from home and for fulfilling household logistics needs,” he said.

Similar policies will also be implemented in Depok, Bekasi and Bogor. PSBB can be extended if corona virus spread is still found. (evn)
