On a recent episode of Odd Lots, a Bloomberg podcast, Sarah LaFleur, founder of womenswear brand M.M. LaFleur, talked about the implications of tariffs. What caught our attention is what she said about silk. Silk, she says, has a complex supply chain with lots of variables, and the bulk of that supply chain is in China. That’s where M.M. LaFleur sources its silk, and the tariffs have disrupted its supply chain. “I don’t think my factory partners slept for seven days,” she says. It’s likely that lots of other brands will experience the same thing in the coming months (recently the tariffs were lowered from 130 percent to 30 percent along with a 10 percent baseline tariff), so we can expect price fluctuations if not production grinding to an outright halt. In the meantime, we’ve rounded up all of our Strategist-favorite silk products so you can stock up while there’s still time.

Silk pillowcases have become a beauty-routine staple. It’s gentler on skin than cotton and has more slip, reducing the friction and frizz. There are also some skin benefits because silk isn’t porous like cotton, which absorbs moisture and oils, which can get trapped in the fibers and trigger breakouts. Our favorite silk pillowcase is from Quince, which has a similar quality to the pricier Slip pillowcase and is half the price.

One of the benefits of the OG Slip pillowcase is that it comes in lots of different patterns and colors. It also holds up well. I’ve been using the same pillowcase for several years and have been impressed by its durability.

This is our best cheap pick for silk pillowcases. It’s a favorite of esthetician and Strategist columnist Rio Viera-Newton, who says it’s a dupe for the pricier Parachute one. “If the tags were removed, I truly do not think I’d be able to tell the difference,” she says.

The Drowsy sleep mask is a What I Can’t Live Without staple — it has been mentioned by Natasha Rothwell, Kate Berlant, and Abby Elliott — all of whom love its lightweight feel and full coverage.

Personally, I sleep with the Slip Silk Mask. I own at least 15 of these and have amassed a collection of different colors and patterns. I like the feel and that it blocks out the glint of the street lights. Other fans of the sleep mask include co-founder of Away Jen Rubio, Strategist senior writer Liza Corsillo, and YouTuber Emma Chamberlain, who says that it’s great for travel.

Silk is notoriously high maintenance, but this “slightly sexy” silky sleep set from Nileta is washable. Strategist senior editor Hilary Reid tested them a few years ago and noted that it’s made of high-quality silk and comes prewashed, so you can toss it in the wash (on delicate) and trust that it will emerge intact.

Our top pick for silk pajamas, this set from Lunya feels much nicer than the price point suggests (it’s under $200) and holds up to many wash cycles.

On first glance, this tank top looks like fine knit, but it’s actually a silk layering piece designed to regulate temperature when it’s cold outside and has a fitted-but-not-tight design.

When we polled three “Everlaneologists” about what the brand does best, two mentioned silk. “Silk is probably what Everlane does best,” says writer Robin Reetz, who gets complimented every time she wears one of the brand’s shirts.

These silk button-downs from Equipment have become iconic because they fit just so — not too tight or flowy. Another plus is that the shirts are large-bust-friendly and don’t pull across the chest when buttoned. “There are pockets on each breast, but unlike other brands I’ve worn (J.Crew, Uniqlo, Banana Republic), they don’t look bulky or do strange things to the cleavage,” says author Jen Doll.

These silk sheets from Kumi Kookoon are pricey but worth it for the quality and color selection. “They have this range of incredible colors. I use a really deep-indigo navy, and it’s a dream to sleep on,” says Zoe Mac, founder of Zoe Mac Design.
